Who we are

For 25 years, MissionSAFE has been a vital presence for Boston’s highly at-risk and opportunity youth, empowering them to overcome the challenges of poverty, violence, and systemic inequities. At the heart of our work is a trauma-informed approach that recognizes the profound impact of ongoing adversity and meets young people with empathy, safety, skill-building, and unwavering support.

We provide safe spaces where youth, ages 11 to 24, work on personal growth, educational improvement, leadership, critical thinking, financial literacy, job readiness, and experience horizon-broadening trips, community service, civic engagement, and paid internships. We focus on the whole person in the context of their whole life—family, school, community—creating individual action plans and wrap-around services including case management. Our trauma-informed approach fosters resiliency and self-awareness, equipping each young person with the tools to transform their lives and contribute to their communities.

Our work doesn’t end there—together we target the root causes of inequity, creating a ripple effect of change that strengthens families and communities. Every success story is a step toward breaking cycles of poverty, violence, and hopelessness, and building a future filled with hope and opportunity.
